Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

Welcome to Ahl (أهل) ("the Application", "we", "us", or "our"). By downloading, accessing, browsing, or using the Application from Google Play or any authorized platform, you ("the User") agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree to these Terms in their entirety, you must immediately discontinue use of the Application and uninstall it from all your devices.

2. Local-First Architecture & Service Nature

Ahl is a self-contained, sovereign personal and family financial planning, budgeting, subscription monitoring, and Zakat calculation tool.

Ahl operates on a Local-First, Zero-Cloud architecture. All financial records, salary numbers, recurring subscriptions, and family data entered into the Application are stored strictly on your local device storage (SQLite).

Because we do not transmit, sync, or host your financial transactions on external servers:

You maintain exclusive ownership, control, and responsibility over your data.
You are solely responsible for creating regular local database backups and CSV/Excel exports using the in-app backup utility.
We cannot recover your data if you lose your phone, delete the app without a backup, or experience hardware failure.

3. No Financial, Tax, or Religious Fatwa Advice

Informational and Planning Utility Only: Ahl is an organization and tracking utility, NOT a bank, credit union, broker, investment adviser, tax consultant, or Islamic juridical body.

Financial Estimates: Projections, budget ceilings, burn rates, and savings suggestions are calculated automatically from figures you provide and do not constitute professional financial advice.
Zakat Calculations: The automated Zakat engine provides estimations based on standard classical Nisab thresholds (85 grams of gold or 595 grams of silver) and deducted liabilities. Religious scholars may hold differing opinions on specific asset classes, retirement accounts, or business inventories. You should consult a qualified Sharia scholar for definitive determinations.

4. Subscriptions, Free Trials, and In-App Purchases

Ahl offers optional Pro enhancements (e.g. Monthly, Annual, or Lifetime access). All purchases and billing transactions are processed securely through Google Play In-App Billing.

7-Day Free Trial: Where an Annual subscription offers a 7-day free trial, you will not be charged by Google Play until the trial period expires. You may cancel anytime through your Google Play Store account settings at least 24 hours before the trial ends to prevent charges.
Auto-Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing cycle (monthly or annually) unless auto-renewal is canceled in your Google Play settings.
Cancellation: You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time by opening the Google Play Store on your device > tapping your Profile icon > Payments & Subscriptions > Subscriptions > selecting Ahl. Upon cancellation, you retain Pro access until the conclusion of your paid billing period.
Refunds: All refund requests are governed by Google Play's standard refund policies and must be initiated through the Google Play Console or Google Play support.

5. Multi-Contributor Household Feature

The Application allows you to add and model multiple household contributors (such as Self, Spouse, or working adult children) with respective incomes.

This feature is solely an interface convenience designed to eliminate mental math for family cash-flow modeling on your single device. It does not establish legal agency, fiduciary duty, or binding financial contracts between family members.

6. Intellectual Property & User Conduct

All rights, title, and interest in and to the Application—including code, algorithms, visual design, icons, logos, database schemas, and documentation—remain the exclusive property of the developer and are protected by applicable intellectual property and copyright laws.

You agree not to:

Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or derive source code from the Application.
Resell, sublicense, lease, or commercially redistribute the Application or its software assets.
Use the Application for any unlawful, deceptive, or fraudulent purpose.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties & Limitation of Liability

THE APPLICATION IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR ACCURACY.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW (INCLUDING GCC CONSUMER REGULATIONS), THE DEVELOPER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APPLICATION, INCLUDING ANY LOSS OF DATA OR FINANCIAL DECISIONS MADE BASED UPON IN-APP CALCULATIONS.

8. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to revise or modify these Terms at any time. Updated versions will be published directly on this website and noted with a new "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the Application following the publication of revised Terms signifies your acceptance.
